Description:
Department: Center for Lifelong Learning
Reports To: Coordinator of the Center for Lifelong Learning

Job Summary: The Center for Lifelong Learning strives to build long-term capacity in individuals – enhancing interpersonal and intrapersonal skills for a lifetime of learning – through various offerings including one-on-one academic coaching, student success coaching, life coaching, and college test and application preparation. The emphasis is the mastery of generalizable skills, not just the acquisition of knowledge or the mastery of subject matter.
The use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) for acquiring knowledge and learning has greatly impacted individuals and how people learn and work. This fall, the Center will be partnering with Ethos School to introduce TrekAI, a large language model AI tool that creates learning conversations using faith-based (Christian Worldview) subject-specific curriculum. 93% of students who used TrekAI to study for their finals last academic year in the pilot program reported an increase in their grades with a 14% positive impact on the grade point average for the group.? We will strive to get the same or better results in our students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop content for in-person and virtual workshops for using TrekAI as a learning tool.
  • Conduct one on one coaching for students using the TrekAI tool.
  • Provide general on-going support to students using the TrekAI tool.
  • Coordinate subject specific coaching needs of students using the Trek AI tool.
  • Track and report on learning impacts through data in collaboration with Ethos.
  • Assist with marketing and other promotion of the TrekAI tool by providing marketing content or being available to attend promotional events.
  • Keeps Coordinator of the Center for Lifelong Learning informed of any concerns.

Requirements:
The AI Learning Coordinator must be a spiritually sensitive individual who understands the missions of Wheaton Academy and the Center for Lifelong Learning. He or she must be committed to help see it become a reality in the lives of our students by manifesting, by precept and example, the highest Christian virtue and personal decorum, serving as a Christian role model (I Timothy 4:12) both in and out of school (Luke 6:40), and as an example to parents and fellow employees in judgment, dignity, respect, and Christian living.
This person accepts without verbal or mental reservations the Educational Philosophy and Missions of Wheaton Academy as outlined in the Statement of Faith and is committed to upholding them. This person shall follow a Christian lifestyle and shall maintain a Christian church affiliation whose fundamental beliefs are in alignment with the Statement of Faith of this school. This person affirms that, as part of the qualifications for this position, he/she is a “born again” Christian who knows the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior.
The ideal candidate will have a degree in education or library science, be a self-starter with a strong work ethic and enjoy a challenge. Working with a minimal amount of supervision, within general guidelines, is required. The ability to proactively solve problems, work effectively with a variety of people, and handle confidential information appropriately are pre-requisites.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Additionally, this individual will have strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; have experience building collaborative teams; lead in the research and implementation of new and innovative ideas; demonstrate understanding of different student learning profiles; and display a positive attitude and show genuine concern for people with learning differences. Finally, this person must be a self-starter who takes initiative and is proactive rather than reactive; is organized with a strong attention to detail; and is prepared to develop procedures to ensure repeatable systems.
