Vacancy: AI Strategy Lead
Location: UK, Flexible (office based 1 day per week)
Job Family: IT
Salary: £54,000 - £75,000 depending on experience
As the AI Strategy Lead, you will be responsible for advising cross-functional projects to ensure that our AI estate adds value to projects while ensuring we matures our AI capability. The role is strategic, but some technical skills could be beneficial to help facilitate the production of POCs and MVPs.
You will need to bridge the effectively communicate the benefits of AI technologies to both IT and Business audiences with an eye to facilitate the adoption where relevant. You will be seen as an expert in the field and understand how AI can help JM achieve its strategic goals. This will be done by both delivering technical solutions but also in helping build a community within JM to help exploit AI tech across all functions.
You will work alongside delivery leads, software engineers, automated testers, designers and architects as well as deeply integrate with stakeholders outside of IT and within the business. This is a rare chance to shape the technical direction of a 200-year-old company.

Your responsibilities:

  • Champion AI: Advocate for AI as a strategic game-changer across the organization. Identify and champion use cases where AI can unlock new scientific discoveries, optimize processes, and drive our competitive advantage.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build strong relationships with business unit leaders, engineering teams, and enterprise architects. Collaborate effectively to ensure seamless AI integration that maximizes business value and aligns with long-term IT architecture goals.
  • Strategy & Roadmap: Lead the development of a comprehensive AI strategy and roadmap aligned with company goals. Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to ensure meets business needs and IT architecture objectives
  • Solution Development: Lead the development and deployment of AI solutions across the organization. Collaborate with the technical team to ensure solutions are implemented effectively and ethically, adhering to best practices and regulatory requirements. Ensure business value through incorporation of FinOps, from project inspection inception to delivery.
  • POC Development & Validation: Lead the development and execution of Proof-of-Concept (POC) projects to validate the feasibility and potential business value of proposed AI solutions.
  • Thought Leader & Visionary: Establish yourself as a thought leader in the field of AI, staying current on emerging trends and best practices and the potential use for JM. Proactively share your knowledge and insights with internal stakeholders through presentations, articles, or internal and external conferences.

Requirements for the role:

  • Technical Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field. Equivalent work experience also considered.
  • Strong understanding of AI capabilities and how they can be used to drive business value.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills including communication with senior management on technical topics
  • Experience with Azure (or other cloud providers) and/or experience in FinOps is highly advantageous
  • Building Collaborative Relationships: Identifying opportunities and taking action to build strategic relationships between one’s areas, teams, departments, units, or organizations including customers, to help achieve business goals.
  • Navigating Complexity: Proactively and quickly making sense of complex issues; responding effectively to complex and ambiguous situations; communicating complicated information simply.
