Your Role at Cabot:
Cabot has an exciting opportunity for an Air Pollution Control (APC) Engineer to work in our Sarnia Carbon Black Manufacturing Facility. Cabot is a leading player in the carbon black industry, dedicated to delivering high-quality products and sustainable solutions. We are seeking a skilled and motivated APC Engineer to join our dynamic team and contribute to the continuous improvement of our manufacturing processes.

How You Will Make an Impact:

  • Process Optimization: Analyze and optimize existing manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality. Implement best practices for process control and automation to achieve operational excellence.
  • New Process Development: Collaborate with R&D teams to develop and scale-up new manufacturing processes for carbon black production. Conduct feasibility studies and provide technical recommendations for process improvements.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure the production of carbon black meets industry standards and customer specifications. Investigate and resolve any deviations or issues related to the manufacturing process.
  • Equipment and Technology Management: Oversee the operation and maintenance of equipment related to carbon black production. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in the carbon black industry to recommend and implement advancements.
  • Safety and Environmental Compliance: Implement safety protocols and procedures to ensure a secure working environment. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and sustainability goals. Supports the Responsible Care® Management System in line with the requirements of the RC14001® technical specification
  • Process Safety: Serve as Process Safety Management (PSM) custodian at the plant in the evaluation of manufacturing process-related risks and incidents. Participate in Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) for key production/capital projects. Ensures all product and process changes are implemented in line with appropriate Management of Change (MOC) principles.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, quality control, and maintenance, to address process-related challenges, training and improvements. Be the technical site focal point to interface with corporate experts. Collaborate with external partners, vendors, and contractors as necessary.

What You Will Bring to Cabot:

  • Knowledge of Chemical Manufacturing; process and product technology; engineering principles; mechanical and instrumentation systems; calibration and maintenance.
  • Strong analytical skills: ability to gather, analyze and draw well-reasoned conclusions, using root cause failure analysis tools.
  • Comfortable with statistical techniques to improve process capability.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six sigma philosophy
  • Communication & Presentation Skills. Ability to effectively engage in verbal and written communications that are timely, concise, clear, and relevant while delivering with empathy with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Bachelor/University degree in a relevant Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in an appropriate manufacturing environment.
