Role Title: Airfreight Pricing Gatekeeper DGF Europe
Location: Bonn or Frankfurt
Overall Role Purpose: The Airfreight Gatekeeper/pricing expert formulates a pricing strategy for selected bids including and not limited to: providing value proposition; translate bid strategy, customer requirements and network fit. Overall purpose is to proactively support corresponding rate offering for competitive and profitable pricing resulting into winning commercial offering. The GK analyses and quantifies business risks and exposures to support fact-based decision making by the relevant senior management stakeholders for multimillion (EUR) AFR RFQs
The Airfreight Gatekeeper quantify the impact for customer on pricing input from the European countries and the other regions and facilitate fact-based decision making by relevant senior management stakeholders.
Ultimately the Airfreight Gatekeeper is the responsible person for the AFR assigned RFQs, for the preparation of the final submission to the Customer in the required format, for the Correctness, Completeness and Competitiveness of the submission and of the rates on each round to gain and retain business.
The gatekeeper supports smart pricing using all available sources of intelligence and drive continuous improvement of AFR pricing quality in coordination with regional and country pricing teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive competitive pricing from a global perspective, i.e. stay on top of market developments
  • Analyze customer profitability and shipping profile
  • Translate and explain Business requirements (RFQ Documents, Contracts, Local Experience, Commercial input) into bid instructions for involved regional and country pricing teams.
  • Coordinate rate card implementation and rate card maintenance processes at European level
  • Act as focal point for Airfreight rate loading process data quality and compliance in Europe ,
  • The Airfreight Pricing Gatekeeper will liaise with multiple parties within DGF to ensure timely and accurate loading of Global Customer Client Rates into CW1. Heavy focus on accuracy and proper loading to ensure accurate billing and operational execution.
  • Initiate, explore all possibilities uplift & routing options for optimal results.
  • Flag out to Stakeholders and SME the exposure, non-standard T&Cs and non-standard Operational procedures proposed by the Customer and prepare the final T&Cs version to be submitted.
  • Instruct country pricing teams and ensure timely delivery
  • Check all country teams pricing input received for quality e.g., Completeness, adherence to pricing instructions, adherence to DGF standards (e.g. T&Cs), pricing correctness (e.g. express rates cannot be lower than regular rates) and competitiveness, prepare IPTs and translate into CPTs, collecting submission, reply to countries enquires.
  • Drive and support agreed pricing process, data quality and compliance
  • Guide, support and on ad hoc basis perform global AFR pricing specialists’ activities
  • Ensure competitive pricing through usage of various benchmarking tools
  • Summarize the overall level of competitiveness and the key exposures to Global and regional AFR management and gain their approval.
  • On ad-hoc basis, participate to QBRs and Customer’s meetings as AFR Expert in conjunction with the Commercial Team.
  • Lead final rate negotiation with the customers (including Final Face 2 Face negotiation meeting).
  • Supports decisions in project/program
