Job Description
Reporting to the Legal Manager, Technical, Operating and Reliability Rules and Standards, the Alberta Reliability Standards (ARS) Analyst is a member of the AESO’s Legal & Regulatory Affairs team, the ARS Analyst works on a wide variety of matters, with a special focus on Alberta reliability standards (ARS), and with responsibility for delivering advice that is in the best interests of the AESO, industry participants and Albertans.
The ARS Analyst works collaboratively as part of the AESO Legal Department to achieve the AESO’s strategic and business goals, ensure compliance with the AESO’s public interest mandate and regulatory legal obligations, and assists with proactively mitigating risk and preventing legal liability.

ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE:

Drafting and assisting in the development of ARS and any associated ISO rules, updates to the AESO’s Consolidated Authoritative Document Glossary (CADG), Information Documents (IDs), and associated documentation (including work plans).
Engaging with NERC and other bodies as required for the development of ARS while ensuring knowledge sharing within the AESO.
Knowledge of the AESO’s mandate, business, and an awareness of stakeholder relations.
Clear understanding of the regulatory framework and associated internal and external processes.
Working with the ARS core team to ensure efficient and effective development of ARS.
Assisting in the preparation of stakeholder consultation materials and provide support during stakeholder consultation sessions.
Knowledge of processes with respect to Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) proceedings, preparation of submissions to the AUC and assisting with the AESO’s participation in proceedings.
Developing and maintaining professional relationships with internal clients and external stakeholders as required.
Providing ongoing support to the Legal Managers as required.
