Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLES
GEO Healthcare provides primary healthcare to men in Public Prisons across Victoria. Working within a multidisciplinary team consisting of psychologists, social workers and occupational therapists, the AOD Program Facilitators contribute to the screening, assessment and intervention of AOD concerns for people in custody.
The Facilitator has a particular focus on harm minimisation and facilitates programs and services that support and promote awareness of harm reduction strategies. Through group facilitation, the aim is to increase the self-efficacy of prisoners engaged in the service, through the development of effective coping strategies and relapse prevention planning.
Opportunities exist for Casual AOD Program Facilitators at:
- Barwon, Marngoneet and Kareenga Prisons, near Lara.
- Beechworth Correctional Centre.
- Langi Kal Kal Prison, near Ballarat.
- Metropolitan Remand Centre / Melbourne Assessment Prison, Melbourne.
- Hopkins Correctional Centre, near Ararat.
- Loddon and Middleton Prisons, near Castlemaine.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS OF THE ROLE:
- Valid Australian driver’s licence and the ability to travel between locations.
- Ability to work within a prison setting, which will involve direct contact with people in prison associated with the delivery of healthcare.
- Satisfactory completion of a National Criminal History Check.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- Working outside of ordinary business hours may be required.
