HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Working with schools and Multi Academy Trusts you will play a key role in ensuring local children receive an offer of a school place and admissions processes are fair and equitable.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

  • You must hold a degree/BTEC/Higher National Certificate or equivalent in business studies/public administration and have relevant administration experience.
  • We require you to have knowledge of school admissions process, policy and legislation, with the ability to communicate effectively, including report writing and presenting findings in a clear and concise format.
  • Given the elements of this role, you will have experience in working as part of a team and the ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues and members of the public.
  • Having experience of presenting appeals is desirable.

Responsibilities:

  • It will be your responsibility to undertake all formal procedures for the admission or transfer of pupils to mainstream primary and secondary schools in South Gloucestershire, following relevant statutory requirements and admission deadlines.
  • You will be working within the co-ordinated admission scheme, including sharing data and information with relevant admission authorities, acting on behalf of other authorities.
  • It will be key for you to provide appropriate data regarding all admissions and transport functions, when required by the Admissions and Transport Manager.
  • Using your experience and knowledge, you will help manage the pre-appeals and appeals procedure for schools. This includes the preparation of appropriate literature, answering questions regarding appeals, ensuring that legal processes are adhered to and representing the Admissions Authority at Independent Appeals.
  • You will assess and determine eligibility for assistance with transport to school, in respect of statutory and discretionary provision within the Authority’s Transport to School policies.
