Position Summary: Altius Farms is focused on aeroponic growing of high-quality, non-GMO, pesticide-free leafy greens and herbs in a state-of-the-art vertical aeroponic greenhouse operation. Altius Farms sites in the Denver area will focus on restaurant (RSA) and consumer (CSA) sales, and agro-tourism, community education, and training of veterans in CEA. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, motivated leader and passionate Greenhouse Grower to join our team and serve in a pivotal role that will directly contribute to driving growth in this early-stage company.

EDUCATION:

  • An associate degree or higher in agriculture or a related field, is preferred.

Experience:

  • A minimum of two years’ experience in professional horticulture.
  • Experience with HACCP/GFSI, a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all phases of Greenhouse Operations for the growth and management of crops in including responsibility for the health, care, and maintenance of crops in a controlled environment.
  • You will schedule the growth and availability of the crops to coincide with demand.
  • The Greenhouse Grower will excel in growing hydroponic greens/herbs of the highest quality most efficiently, in collaboration with other production team members, and will be responsible for:
  • Climate control and management of vertical grow towers.
  • Crop planning, planting, record keeping, and capture of data.
  • Responsible for Inventory management.
  • Explaining and demonstrating proper horticulture techniques.
  • Tour work areas to observe work being done, inspect crops, and evaluate plant and growing conditions.
  • Scouting for pests and diseases and developing mitigation plans.
  • Troubleshooting of growing, harvesting, and packing equipment malfunctions.
  • Fertility management: Analyzing water, pH balance, mineral solutions, and leaves to determine optimal growing environments.
  • Adjusting fertilizer programs based on solution and leaf tissue analysis.
  • Participating in the company’s Research and Development projects related to growing and equipment.
  • Supervising, training, assist in hiring and coaching of a small team (greenhouse managers, harvesters, etc.).
  • Plans, schedules, and directs the performance of assigned staff.
  • Explain and enforce safety regulations and policies.
