Responsibilities:
JOB PURPOSE
The Alumni and Communications Assistant will provide proactive and efficient administrative support for the Alumni Office in all aspects of its alumni relations and communications work. Reporting to the International Alumni Officer as part of the Adam Smith Business School Alumni Office but working closely with colleagues from across the University (including External Relations, Central Communications and Public Affairs Office, the Careers Service, and the Adam Smith Business School), the post holder will help support Chinese-language social media, public relations and general marketing and communications activities aimed at Chinese audiences, including current and prospective students, alumni and partner institutions.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To manage the Chinese-language social media accounts of the Adam Smith Business School alumni team (eg. WeChat and RED) - delivering a comprehensive communications plan and excellent customer service in order to engage with key Chinese-speaking stakeholders.
- To work with the International Alumni Officer to launch an alumni RED account and develop an effective content plan and to support the strategy of developing social media channels in RED with the Chinese Social Media Officer from Central Communications and Public Affairs Office.
- To monitor social media accounts and correspondence for any issues that may have a reputational impact and require a considered response from wider Communications and Public Affairs Office or provide useful insight for University staff in carrying out their activities and liaise with the Alumni Manager with any issues that arise.
- To support and enhance the Adam Smith Business School’s participation in Higher Education rankings, including Financial Times and QS.
- To encourage and increase participation of current and graduating students in Chinese alumni associations to help maintain and build alumni networks in key regions and support professional and personal development of students.
- To translate material where necessary/appropriate (English to Mandarin & vice-versa).
- To support the data management in Raisers-Edge.
- To assist in any other general duties, agreed with the International Alumni Officer where appropriate.
