The Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks is looking for a dynamic individual who is enthusiastic about protecting clean air in Ontario. This role provides a unique opportunity to analyze data and provide scientific leadership and expertise with a diverse and dedicated team of environmental professionals.
NOTE: The location of the vacancy is at 933 Ramsey Lake Road, Sudbury. However, consideration will be given to the successful candidate to allow them to work out of one of the following MECP Offices (location will be based on the successful candidate’s current home or work address and operational needs):

COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
- You collaborate well with internal and external staff and diverse interest groups and foster good working relationships.
- You have strong interpersonal and communication skills to prepare technical reports and present highly technical information to multi-disciplinary environmental teams, managers, and the public.
- You can draft a variety of written materials including scientific reports, correspondence, briefing notes, communications materials, etc.
ANALYTICAL AND PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS:
- You have analytical and problem solving skills to study, evaluate and recommend policy/scientific approaches for addressing issues arising from field studies outside established procedures.
- You have the ability to interpret and assess air quality data, information and reports with reference to established legislation, policies, and practices and evaluate options and alternatives.
- You are able to determine the need for remedial action and/or air contaminant control proposal modifications necessary to ensure legal compliance by applying principles of air quality management together with interpretation of ministry legislation.
Responsibilities:
In this role supporting Northern and Southwest Regions, you will:
- provide leadership and scientific air quality expertise for the regional air quality assessment programs
- evaluate impacts, and make recommendations for the protection of air quality
- create modern, innovative materials to share complex data in plain language with diverse audiences
- monitor project progress and quality
- provide policy advice and guidance to internal and external clients
- design statistical framework for analyzing, interpreting and presenting on air monitoring data
