JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Location: Twinsburg, Ohio
The Analysis Engineer I is responsible for the support of equipment design, analysis, test, and technical support of the AC and DC air-cooled and oil-cooled generators and generator control units within the engineering department. This includes all phases of the project including but not limited to proposals, development, testing and production support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supports trade studies, modeling, simulation and other forms of analysis to predict component and interconnects performance and to optimize design around established requirements.
  • Conduct Thermal Simulations and Analysis. Perform detailed thermal simulations and analysis for the design and development of electric machines, ensuring optimal thermal management.
  • Utilize tools such as CFD and FEA software to model heat generation, dissipation, and transfer within electric machine components.
  • Perform Stress Simulations and Analysis. Execute comprehensive stress simulations and structural analyses for electric machine components to ensure mechanical integrity and reliability.
  • Utilize tools such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to assess stresses, strains, and deformation under various loading conditions, including thermal, mechanical, and electromagnetic forces.
  • Support the electromagnetic design for electric generators.
  • Calculate emag, windage and frictional losses within a machine.
  • Support preparation, performs, and participates in technical reviews (design, manufacturing, and test, etc.).
  • Reviews and understands customer specifications with respect to electromagnetic and performance requirements.
  • Initiates actions to solve problems for ongoing products or for new product designs and propose potential solutions to alleviate performance concerns.
  • Provide assistance and directly perform static bench testing of new and legacy products; develops systems to gather digital data during testing as assigned by the engineering manager
  • Studies the data gathered during testing and evaluates the validity of the results with respect to prior electromagnetic and system analysis.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot test failures related to electromagnetic performance.
  • Adheres to all safety protocols and 5S guidelines
  • Adheres to safe work practices and contributes to the evolution of the health, safety, and environmental program and culture.
  • Other duties may be assigned
  • Evening/night hours may be required
  • Extra hours may be required during business peaks

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical/aerospace engineering or equivalent
  • A minimum one to two (1-2) years’ experience in Model Based System Engineering, electromagnetics, rotating equipment and/or aerospace preferred
  • In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, an Associates Degree in Electrical/Aerospace Engineering or equivalent along with a minimum of three (3) years experience in analysis, rotating equipment and/or aerospace preferred
  • Demonstrated skills in modeling and simulation, design principles, interpreting blueprints, drawings including GD&T and process documents
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Knowledge/Skills:

  • Good understanding of design, manufacturing, and test processes and constraints inherent to the aerospace industry
  • Experience in ANSYS Electronic Desktop Suite/Maxwell and ANSYS for Thermal EMAG analysis preferred
  • Experience in Fortran and FEA Preferred
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Experience with 3D CAD preferred
  • Enthusiastic and focused
  • Team oriented and ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments with shift in priorities.
  • Ability to interpret complex information and convey a simplified message to team members of varying technical expertise
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of the position, this role will be regularly required to stand, walk sit, lift, use hands and fingers, handle and feel, reach with hands and arms and observe with naked eye or via various instruments.
  • This role will occasionally be required to lift and/or move objects up to 30 pounds.

Work Environment

  • The work environment is mainly in office but depending on the phase of the project could be split between office and testing or production floor areas. The environment in some areas may requires wearing PPE or other equipment.
