We continue expanding our Growth Investment Team and are hiring an Analyst or Associate to work in Berlin.
Responsibilities & key tasks
- Deal Origination: Cultivate strong relationships within the startup and venture capital community, acting as an ambassador for HV Capital. Source and identify new investment opportunities, manage our internal database, and leverage your growing network to generate exciting deal flow while proactively seeking out “the next big thing.”
- Deal Analysis: Proactively manage the pipeline with the deal team, thoroughly assess opportunities, and analyze strategic fit. Conduct market research, product evaluations, competitive and KPI analysis, and customer reviews to provide well-founded recommendations to senior colleagues.
- Market Trends: Independently develop expertise in key technology sectors to uncover promising business models and develop compelling investment theses.
- Portfolio Management: Support and monitor HV’s portfolio management initiatives, including tracking KPIs, reviewing business plans, identifying deviations, contributing to monthly GP reporting, etc.
- Educational Background: A strong academic foundation is essential, demonstrating both ambition and resilience. Degrees in computer science, mathematics, or business are particularly valued.
- Relevant Experience: You have spent at least 2+ years in top-tier Investment Banking, Private Equity, Venture Capital, Consulting, Corporate Development, or late-stage startups. This experience has honed your skills in finance, financial modelling, and advanced analytical thinking.
- Strategic & Analytical Mindset: You possess a strategic mindset with a strong emphasis on analytical thinking and meticulous attention to detail. You take a data-driven, pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
- Initiative & Drive: You demonstrate initiative in winning deals, particularly in competitive situations, and are willing to go the extra mile to secure important opportunities.
- Communication & Networking: You are a natural and clear communicator with a strong ability to network and build relationships within the industry.
- Autonomous & Hands-On: You thrive in an autonomous working environment and excel at synthesizing and presenting complex data. You’re also willing to roll up your sleeves and get operational when needed.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is essential for this role. German proficiency, as is any other major European language, is strongly valued.
