Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:
As part of the Strategic Initiatives and Investor Relations team within the Renewable Power and Transition Group, the Associate will report to the Senior Vice President of Strategic Initiatives. This is a dynamic and multi-faceted role that offers the opportunity to develop a strong internal network with investment professionals, finance and operations, and senior management across Brookfield’s global offices. In addition, this role will have the opportunity to build a strong external network through interactions with Brookfield’s private fund limited partners (LP).
The role will be focused on the execution of co-underwrite and co-investment processes, strategic priorities, servicing the LP investor base and supporting capital raising initiatives for Brookfield’s renewable and transition strategies. This role will contribute to content creation and thought leadership across Brookfield’s renewable and transition private funds.
The individual selected for this role will play a critical role in maintaining strong relationships with Brookfield’s LPs, while being part of a fast-paced and engaging team environment that is at the forefront of renewable and transition investments. Responsibilities:
- Support the execution of strategic capital raising initiatives with LPs across co-investment and co-underwrite processes including assistance in the preparation of deal materials, working closely with investments team to disseminate deal information, managing investor Q&A, maintaining and updating data sites and coordinating timelines and meetings with LPs;
- Utilize reporting and asset management update calls to prepare quarterly webcast materials for LPs that provide a strategic overview of fund performance and key initiatives across the fund’s portfolio, draft the transcript for senior leadership to deliver key messaging;
- Create bespoke materials such as deep dive presentations on emerging technologies portfolio company updates or Brookfield’s capabilities;
- Independently manage enquiries and correspondence with LPs by utilizing internal and external resources;
- Draft responses to due diligence requests and manage internal communications for material acquisitions and capital raising initiatives such as investment committee memos on acquisitions;
- Monitor and track renewables and transition market activity, key industry trends and competitive intelligence;
- Work with internal partners to identify opportunities to improve the efficiencies of existing processes on the Renewable Power and Transition Strategic Initiatives and Investor Relations team;
- Provide ongoing leadership and support to develop junior team members.
Requirements:
- 2-3 years of investment banking or private equity investments experience
- Undergraduate university degree with a focus on business/finance or economics; CFA, CPA designation preferred
- Strong financial literacy and understanding of key finance concepts (valuation, financial statement analysis, investment performance measurement)
- Passion for renewables and transition investing and understanding of key market trends
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, global environment and quickly identify and adapt to changing priorities
- Ability to understand and effectively communicate complex financial topics into concise and clear messaging
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and ability to build strong relationships with individuals at all levels, both internally and externally
- Dedicated, well-organized and resourceful with a high level of attention to detail
- Self-motivated and proactive, ability to handle pressure effectively and has the ability to work without a lot of structure
- Proficient in Excel, Powerpoint and data sites (IntraLinks)
- Team player with positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills
