JOB SUMMARY

The Analyst, Business Advisory Services, under the supervision of the Manager, Business Improvement Services, will provide business analytical and project support in various service areas. Leveraging exceptional skills in business improvement, financial modeling, and statistical analysis, the position will be a driving force behind data-driven decision-making and strategic planning efforts.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field such as Business, Commerce, Social Sciences, Planning, Political Science or related field of study, or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent with an emphasis on business planning, analytics and reporting in a government or business setting.
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in development and analysis of business plans/cases, and business performance reporting (municipal or public sector experience preferred).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in business intelligence software (Power BI, Tableau, QlikView, Oracle BI, etc.) and abilities in utilizing these tools for data analysis, reporting, and effective communication purposes. Excellent computer skills, with above average abilities in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in facilitating and documenting business requirements, business processes and technical specifications is required.
  • Exceptional business analysis, verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on customer service.
  • Thinks strategically about business issues.
  • Demonstrated organizational, analytical, research, decision-making and problem solving skills and high attention to detail.
    Hourly Rate/Salary: $ 41.93 - $ 55.91

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and present feasibility studies, operational assessments/reviews and business cases, supported by metrics, identifying trends related to budget and business planning process, work plans and key business initiatives.
  • Support the development of innovative proposals for continuous improvement initiatives or new business ideas, in alignment with City strategic priorities.
  • Analyze and communicate the value proposition (financial and resource implications) of specific projects or programs, including business benefits, quantified benefits value, costs/ROI, resource implications, and risks of not proceeding.
  • Generate reports and maintain Divisional statistics and reports, while updating key performance indicators and metrics, monitoring, reporting, and providing recommendations for efficiencies, continuous improvement, and innovation.
  • Lead and facilitate workshops to gather business requirements and map existing and future business processes, supporting strategic projects and business initiatives, with various interested parties.
  • Conduct business process analysis to identify inefficiencies and recommend redesign departmental and divisional software solutions to align with business and system requirements.
  • Monitor and provide input for operating and capital budgets, including accurate and concise periodic reporting to management.
  • Create reports, facilitate discussions, presentations, briefings, and financial summaries using tools like Excel, MS Project, Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services, and Crystal Reports as necessary.
  • Oversee the administration of project management tracking & reporting tools and platforms, creating supporting documentation and training materials as required.
  • Perform market research, develop benchmarks, and establish performance measures.
  • Comply with relevant City policies and Legislative requirements.
  • Provide consultation and business advice to Divisional Management Teams and Directors as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.
