About the team:
The Commercial department (the Balance Sheet Optimisation and Capital Markets teams) supports the Bank by developing the Group’s capital and wholesale funding strategy. The team works closely with the Group’s Treasury, Finance, Product Proposition and Risk functions. The team identifies opportunities and proposes specific actions, including capital markets transactions, for optimising the Group’s balance sheet. This could include the issuance of additional capital instruments, issuance of minimum requirements for own funds and eligible liabilities (MREL) debt, share buy-backs, securitisations and intra-Group transfers of capital and funding. The team also provides support to the Group Risk and Finance functions with respect to financial planning and forecasting, risk appetite setting, stress testing and key supervisory submissions.

What you will be doing:
In this varied and interesting role, you will have the opportunity to provide analytical support to senior members of the Commercial team, in particular within the Balance Sheet Optimisation and Capital Markets teams, in all aspects of their responsibilities.
You will assist in completing capital and balance sheet planning; capital markets transactions (unsecured and secured); robust data compilations; and management information for both internal and external stakeholders.
You work within a small and supportive team, with exposure to various projects and ‘big ticket’ items to support your professional goals.

Your responsibilities will include…

  • Assisting on the day-to-day analytical work to support the delivery of capital markets and balance sheet management transactions/ actions, escalating any issues as appropriate.
  • Providing high level ad hoc analytical support as and when required across the Commercial team, providing concise commentaries regarding the findings of such analyses, and making recommendations where appropriate.
  • Assisting in the production of automated tools to assist the Commercial team in the production of data and reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Supporting in the production of periodic management information utilised within Group governance committees.
  • Supporting producing the outputs across the team’s regulatory and investor reporting requirements, ensuring consistency and accuracy maintained on an ongoing basis.
  • Supporting with the development, and maintenance of, tools/ models for the purposes of validating loans eligible for future securitisations where required to do so.

In return for your commitment:

We offer a base salary dependent on experience of between £35,000-£40,000 and a competitive benefits package including:
