JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting directly to the Manager, External Affairs, this role serves to support the global external affairs function across a range of research, analysis, reporting, and project coordination activities. The Analyst may also represent Kinross at certain government and industry association meetings from time-to-time, and other external engagements events as directed.
The global external affairs function serves to support Kinross’ business and operations, to ensure we maintain our social license to operate in each of our jurisdictions. In doing so, Kinross strives to be an active and engaged corporate citizen, both domestically and abroad.
This role is ideal for a candidate eager to gain a comprehensive understanding of the business and apply that knowledge to support various global government relations initiatives. The ideal candidate will be able to gain and in-depth understanding of the business – and simplify and communicate complex topics to diverse audiences through clear documentation, presentations, and conversations that can be tailored and communicated to a diverse audience.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area such as political science, public policy, international relations, or a related field. Master’s degree is considered an asset.
- 2-3 years of relevant work experience. International experience is considered an asset.
- Previous experience related to the natural resources sector is preferred.
- English language fluency is required. French or Spanish language capability is a distinct advantage.

Responsibilities:
- Consolidate, monitor, research, analyze and report on key political, public policy, social, and regulatory developments, in corporate areas of interest globally.
- Research and prepare briefing notes, talking points, and other materials as needed for internal reporting or engagement with external stakeholders and industry associations.
- Provide support to the Manager, External Affairs and other teams in the preparation and coordination of meetings with government officials, community partners, industry peers, external consultants and advisors, and other external stakeholders, participating in meetings as directed.
- Prepare correspondence to various government representatives and other external stakeholders, as directed.
- Support the research, preparation and maintenance of stakeholder databases, maps, and engagement plans.
- Research and prepare presentations on political/external risk analysis for new areas of interest in connection with corporate development and other initiatives, as directed.
- Support the Manager, External Affairs and other teams with the identification and preparation of executive conference attendance.
- Support the Manager, External Affairs and other teams with the preparation and management of Kinross’ government affairs program and related efforts at the annual PDAC conference.
- Provide project coordination and management support to the Manager, External Affairs, and other teams, such as for the Great Bear Project, as required.
- Provide overall support to the external relations teams and other functions globally, as required.
- Assist with the development of corporate policies, templates, reporting processes, etc. as directed.
- Interpret internal or external issues and recommend best practices or solutions, escalating more complex issues, as necessary.
- Continuously assess and improve the operational effectiveness of the portfolio within prescribed limits.
