The Opportunity
We’re looking to fill an Analyst, Financial Crimes position at RFA Bank of Canada!
Reporting to the Manager of Financial Crimes operations, the successful candidate will be responsible for AML/ATF activities including adjudicating name-screening, transaction monitoring alerts and escalating unusual transactions to mitigate ML/TF risks.
Core Responsibilities

As an Analyst, Financial Crimes, you will be investigating and analyzing financial transactions to detect, prevent, and report suspicious activities related to money laundering, fraud, and other financial crimes as assigned by management within the timelines set out by the department. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Conduct detailed investigations of flagged transactions or accounts, gathering evidence and documentation to support findings.
  • Use data analysis tools and techniques to detect patterns, trends, and anomalies in financial transactions that could indicate potential criminal activity.
  • Document and escalate unusual transactions to Senior Analysts.
  • Perform periodic customer reviews, as well as selected customer due diligence and enhanced due diligence procedures.
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently within the AML team and with other departments e.g. Credit Operations, Customer Service, etc.
  • Identify opportunities to improve AML processes, tools, and methodologies.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of money laundering and terrorist financing issues, including legislation, regulations, industry best practice, criminal typologies and developing trends.
  • Perform other responsibilities and assist with special projects, as required.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • 1+ years’ experience in financial industry (preferably AML related)
  • Basic knowledge of AML/ATF related processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Good understanding of AML/ATF issues, specifically previous experience with alert and transaction monitoring activities
  • Strong analytical skills required to organize and analyze multiple, complex data sets

  • Self-starter with the ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Computer Literate in MS Office applications
