We are seeking candidates for the following position based in our London or Dublin office:
Analyst - Insurance Investment Strategy Group
This position offers a rewarding opportunity to be part of a dynamic and growing segment within the team. It will allow you to develop your investment knowledge with a specific focus on the insurance industry. While prior experience in the investment or insurance industry is preferred, we are also open to candidates who are motivated to learn and succeed in a strategy-oriented role.

As a member of the Insurance Investment Strategy Team, you will play a crucial role in supporting our advisory and delegated solutions business in serving insurance clients.
You will have the opportunity to work closely with the Investment Strategy team to address the unique investment challenges faced by insurers. This includes developing investment strategies that generate real returns in a post globalisation low yield environment and navigating the impact of climate change, all while adhering to regulatory requirements.
You will also be involved in designing and implementing tailored investment strategies for each insurer, using Mercer’s expertise.
As an Analyst within the Investment Strategy Group you will contribute to the delivery of strategic investment advice to global insurers whilst collaborating with team members on client projects, providing input to business development activities contributing to the design of solutions for insurers.

We will rely on you to:
- Support the wider insurance team and act as the insurance strategy specialist for clients and prospects
- Ensure excellent client service through accurate and timely reporting, record keeping, and market intelligence, serving as the primary contact for technical queries
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of client needs, requirements, and the insurance regulatory environment
- Develop strategic asset allocations for insurance clients, including quantitative and qualitative evaluations of asset allocation strategies
- Provide preliminary recommendations to consultants on suitable investment strategies and structures for insurers, collaborating with specialist teams as needed
- Prepare for and attend client meetings, presenting technical analysis, key issues, and conclusions
- Maintain and review the technical accuracy and reasonableness of your work and that of others
- Contribute to team development and commercial strategy
What you need to have:
- Previous experience in the investment industry with a strong motivation to learn and succeed in a strategy-oriented role
- High proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office applications, with modelling experience being an advantage
- Strong numerical reasoning and analytical skills, with the ability to approach tasks in a logical manner
- Familiarity with the institutional investment landscape and strategy setting process
- A strong interest in the economic, investment, and regulatory factors that influence insurers’ decision-making.
- Natural attention to detail and intellectual curiosity.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills are also important.
