About the role
Note: This is a temporary 12-month opportunity.
As ATBs next Payroll Analyst, you will be the first point of contact for all team member and internal partner inquiries for ATB, as well as Capital Markets and Private Equity companies. The Payroll Analyst is accountable for understanding the outputs from the P&C system (myPath - SuccessFactors), the administration and outputs of the Time and Attendance system (WorkForce Software), understanding how the Payroll system (ECP) is configured for calculations, and the overall impact and team member experience that results. This role has a solid understanding of pension plan rules and regulations, as well as a thorough understanding of payroll processes relating to pension.
Accountabilities
This role is responsible for overall payroll accuracy and completion of processing, ensuring all team members have been paid accurately, all payments have occurred as required, and all deductions and reporting are remitted to the vendors accurately and on time. It is responsible for the investigation and resolution of the internal bank and GL account variances.
This role is the first point of contact for all payroll inquiries. It is learning all payroll operations duties, and is responsible for documenting all related processes and procedures. It is also providing education and training to colleagues, partner teams, and team members via inquiries on general payroll knowledge, processes and procedures.
Skills, experience & requirements

Distinctive Skill Requirements

  • Sound knowledge of pay legislation & employment standards, taxation rules, pension plan design, retirement benefits, union agreements, finance accruals, & client post pay agreements
  • Excellent working knowledge of G-Suite programs, SAP, Workforce Software (WFS), MS Office Excel
  • Proven relationship building skills, diplomacy, and ability to influence others
  • Excellent understanding and knowledge of legislative requirements, internal policies and audit control requirements of the payroll functions.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate complex information and changes to both team members and management.
  • Advanced interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner to all levels of internal/external clients as well as 3rd party representatives.
  • Problem solving skills with the ability to identify solutions and opportunities
  • Analytical skills with attention to data integrity and confidentiality of information
  • Working knowledge of technical configuration, processes and the flow of data into payroll
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to work well under pressure of deadlines, changing priorities, and last minute changes
  • Has basic skills in an analytical or operational process;
  • Works within clearly defined standard operating procedures, works with close supervision

Accreditations Requirements

  • Requires 1 or 2 yrs of post-secondary, job specific training, university degree is not expected
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certificate asset; equivalencies will be considered
  • Post secondary degree with 1-3 years progressive payroll and pensions experience considered an asset
