Founded in 2020, BTG Capital Inc. (“BTG Capital”, “BTG” or the “Firm”) is a Calgary-based operationally focused private equity investment manager. BTG Capital’s current mandate is to invest within the Canadian middle market landscape, specifically targeting platform investment opportunities within the midstream, power and energy transition sectors that offer significant operational and commercial upside. BTG raised approx. $75mm in its inaugural fund and is hiring an analyst to support its fundraising efforts on BTG’s second fund amongst other responsibilities below.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience within a finance related role, including: i) investment banking; ii) equity research; iii) corporate business development; or iv) advisory services;
- Bachelor’s degree in commerce, finance, economics, accounting or a related field. Actively working towards a professional designation would be considered an asset;
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (notably Excel and PowerPoint) is required;
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with proficiency in financial modelling, valuation techniques and accounting knowledge;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable producing professional-quality materials and articulating complex ideas clearly and concisely;
- Detail-orientated with a high degree of accuracy and integrity in work product;
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment paired with the ability to assume a high level of responsibility to self-manage multiple priorities;
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team setting and collaborate across various organizational levels; and
- Strong work ethic, self-motivated and eager to learn and grow in the field of private equity.

Responsibilities:
- Financial Analysis: Conduct comprehensive qualitative and quantitative analysis for various investment opportunities;
- Due Diligence: Perform thorough due diligence on potential investment opportunities, including industry research, competitive positioning, market trend assessment and risks identification;
- Financial Modelling: Build and maintain intricate financial models to support ongoing investment initiatives, while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the financial projections;
- Deal Execution: Assist in the execution of investment transactions, including due diligence, data room management, liaising with external legal, financial and other transactional advisors;
- Portfolio Company Support: Monitor the performance of existing portfolio companies, track key financial and operational metrics, and provide ongoing support to operational management on any growth initiatives;
- Reporting: Support inpreparing quarterly investor packages, maintain internal databases and develop presentation materials for internal and external purposes; and
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate and provide overall support to senior members of the BTG Capital team, including Partners, Principals and Associates, to support the investment decision-making process and contribute to the overall success of the Firm.
