BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Business degree, CPA or MBA an asset;
  • Experience: Solid experience in FP&A, forecasting, modeling or business analysis;
  • Experience in developing predictive model with ability to rapidly manipulate large amounts of data, accurately and efficiently;
  • Solid understanding of GAAP in Canada and the US;

Responsibilities:

As a member of the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Canadian team, the Senior Financial Analyst position will have responsibility to support the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis, in the financial management of the designated Business Unit, leads the coordination & reporting activities for the Sales/Expense portfolio for all forecasting processes and will be the primary point of contact with the regional and corporate head offices. The position will collaborate with the FP&A, Financial Services, and Tax teams in order to achieve accurate and sound financial analysis and reporting.

Primary Activities: Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supports the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis, in the financial management of the designated Business Unit encompassing financial reporting, financial analysis, and provides recommendations for enhanced profitability growth;
  • Leads the consolidation of the Sales/Expense portfolio for the Planning and Reporting function during outlooks, forecasts, budgets and the long-range operating plans;
  • Leads the reporting of monthly results to the Region and Senior Management;
  • Performs Sales/Expense Analysis, including price/volume drivers as well as monitoring Risks and Opportunities.
  • Perform Ad Hoc sales/expense analysis, including customer and provincial segmentation analysis;
  • Work closely with senior financial management in the development of presentations or reviews;
  • Responsible for the headcount and payroll planning, forecasting & reporting activities;
  • Along with the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis, co-lead the Financial Planning cycles and ensure the rest of the team collectively deliver quality forecasts, budgets and long-range operating plans in a timely manner;
  • Highlights risks and opportunities to senior management with regards to financial matters to aid in their decision making and planning process. This includes coordinating and ensuring the integrity of the overall country financial plans, reports and related information submitted to corporate.
  • Deals with employees and management at all levels in seeking the best solutions to a wide variety of financial and business issues.
  • Lead the strategy and maintenance of the financial planning & analysis applications and provide process improvement and tool optimization recommendation
  • Act as lead for business analytics and predictive modelling expert that will develop new approaches and models to drive the future analytical engine of FP&A and the business.
  • Use large amount of data and transform into automated predictive models with the use of emerging techniques.
