Description:

Join Valmet’s Data and Insights Team as a Lead Data Architect, where you will drive the design, implementation, and optimization of our data architecture, supporting our strategic objectives and enhancing analytics excellence across the organization.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Data Architecture Leadership: Lead the design and implementation of robust data architectures in a Microsoft Fabric environment, ensuring alignment with business and IT strategies.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to domain architects, fostering collaboration and ensuring consistency in data architecture practices across different domains.
  • Data Governance: Develop and enforce data governance policies and procedures to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Data Environment Management: Collaborate the administration and maintenance of our Data Lake infrastructure, including configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization to ensure smooth operations.
  • Performance Optimization: Identify and implement performance optimization strategies to enhance the efficiency and scalability of the Data Lake platform, including tuning queries, optimizing data pipelines, and managing storage resources.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Maintain comprehensive documentation of Data Lake configurations, processes, and best practices, and facilitate knowledge sharing with the broader team.
  • Monitor and manage data quality, ensuring consistent and reliable data across the organization.
  • Strategic Road mapping: Develop and execute a multiyear roadmap for Data Lake operations, aligning with business and IT strategies to support key organizational initiatives.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement processes within the Data Lake environment, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in information technology, engineering, or a relevant field.
  • Proven experience in administering and managing Microsoft Data Lakehouse or similar big data platforms.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Azure services, including Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and related technologies.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance principles, with experience implementing them in a Microsoft Data Lake environment.
  • Strong understanding of data management concepts, including data governance, data security, and data quality.
  • Knowledge of data integration tools and techniques for ingesting and processing data from diverse sources.
  • Strategic mindset with a proven track record of influencing and aligning stakeholders to achieve complex goals.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage timelines effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate effective collaboration with diverse teams.

Preferred experience:

  • Experience with SQL querying and scripting languages (e.g., T-SQL, PowerShell) for data manipulation and automation.
  • Experience with business intelligence tools (Tableau, Power BI).
  • Experience with real-time analytics and IoT data integration
