All Pets Veterinary Hospital in Drogheda, Co Louth is seeking an animal care assistant to join their experienced team.
APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS
We are seeking a trustworthy, reliable and friendly person able to work in a fast-paced veterinary practice environment. The successful applicant must have:
- A relevant qualification in animal care (QQI or similar) or Veterinary Nursing student
- Experience in veterinary or animal care is beneficial but not essential
- Have a strong team work ethic
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrate high standards of hygiene and cleaning
- Resilient with the ability to cope with potentially distressing and emotional situations
- Possess great organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently
- A love for animal welfare is a requirement
WHO WE ARE
Allpets is situated in Drogheda, Co. Louth. We are located opposite the Bus Eireann bus depot and within 30 min drive of Dublin airport on the M1. We are a fully renovated hospital with facilities that include digital x-ray, dental x-ray. ultrasound, in-house blood analysers, separate dog/cat waiting areas and consulting rooms, with an additional private family room when required. We are a gold accredited ISFM cat friendly clinic. We offer referral services in Orthopedic surgery, soft tissue surgery and ultrasound scanning.
We pride ourselves on working extremely well as a team so the ability to integrate well into a professional, friendly team is a must. Our team consists of 6 Veterinary Surgeons, 9 Veterinary Nurses (7 full-time, 2 part-time) 3 full-time receptionists, 2 animal care assistants, an accounts administrator and a Practice Manager. Our Vets hold certificates in both SA Medicine and Surgery and many of our RVN’s hold additional certs in Feline Medicine, Anaesthesia, Emergency and Critical Care etc.
We work with local animal rescues and charities closely and we were delighted to be awarded IVC’s community grant fund this year to help them in their efforts of caring for local animals in need.
Responsibilities:
- Part-time, permanent position
- Role would suit a veterinary nurse student who is available to work 9-5pm on Saturdays (with 1 hour lunch break) plus 1-2 evenings a week (3/5pm-8pm)
- There is flexibility to work longer hours, (up to a maximum of 40 hours per week) on college breaks etc
- Flexible weekday shifts based on the requirements of the practice and availability of the candidate if undertaking studies
- No OOH/on-call, Sunday or Bank Holiday work – however Saturday availability is a must
- Wage is €13.50 per hour
- Start date of December 2024
