Description:

The Animal Technician position will require an experienced professional, possessing a wide variety of animal husbandry, training, volunteer supervision and public presentation experience. The Animal Technician is expected to be a competent and reliable handler of a wide variety of animals, including goats, sheep, chickens, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates. The Animal Technician is an integral part of the education program, participating in animal presentations and working alongside other educators to provide a high-quality guest experience. Individuals must have the willingness and skills to contribute to a positive, teamwork focused culture.
Responsibilities:
- Husbandry for native and exotic animal ambassadors
- Diet preparation
- Enclosure maintenance and cleaning
- Assist with the upkeep of our environmental education center
- Ensure live exhibits and 54-acre property provides the opportunities for learning
- Lead by example at all times. Interact with a high level of professionalism and accountability.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings as required
- Ensure compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
