Description:

Antenatal and Newborn Screening Co-ordinator
The post holder will be a specialist resource in the field of antenatal & newborn screening and diagnosis, assisting and advising other health professionals in the care of women undergoing testing. They will lead the implementation and evaluation of systems to ensure that every pregnant person and newborn baby is offered all appropriate NHS funded screening programmes offered by the Trust ,meeting national standards; linking with regionally agreed quality assurance mechanisms.
To lead the Antenatal and Newborn Screening service and establish an infrastructure that will deliver a level of service which is equitable, evidence based and consistent with the recommendations and standards of the UK National Screening Committee (UK NSC)
To act as the professional lead for the day to day management, evaluation and quality assurance of the screening process including the provision of digital screening information, the screening procedures and any onward referral.
To work closely with the Risk and Governance team and participate in investigations of antenatal and newborn screening incidents and share learning from incidents and changes in practice with staff.
To operate and monitor all failsafe system to identify, as early as possible, mothers and babies that may have missed or where screening results are incomplete across the antenatal and newborn screening and vaccination programmes.
To liaise with NHS England (NHSE) and Quality Assurance (QA), by participating in national Quality Assurance processes, reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs),risks and audits. To undertake reviews as requested by QA teams with a timely response to any recommendations.
