Overview of Department
The Compliance Department is here to protect our clients, our firm and staff from regulatory issues by fostering compliant and ethical outcomes and seeks to manage and mitigate relevant global compliance risks within the agreed risk appetite.

Purpose of Role
The BGE AFC Senior Analyst role is based in Dublin and supports European Anti-Financial Crime activities across the BGWF and BGE entities.
This position covers all aspects of Anti-Financial Crime (i.e., Anti-Money Laundering, Countering the Financing of Terrorism/Proliferation, Sanctions, Anti-Bribery & Corruption, Anti-Modern Slavery) and reports to the Baillie Gifford Europe Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO).
The role is acknowledged by the CBI as a Control Function 2, to ensure that BGE can conduct Dublin’s AFC operational tasks and perform appropriate Second Line Oversight over BGE’s outsourced activities.

Responsibilities

  • Working closely with our Fund’s administrator and custodian to ensure appropriate ongoing oversight whilst escalating any areas of concern to the MLRO,
  • Completing analysis and decision making in relation to complex queries, providing recommendations/actions plans on escalations for decision to the MLRO:
  • Bringing ranges of pre-thought-out solutions,
  • Capable of taking decisions independently (where appropriate), and
  • Understands technical nuances of AML, CFT and Sanctions regulations.
  • Ongoing analysis of regulatory developments relevant to the firm,
  • Assisting in reviewing and analysing, sometimes complex, communications from the Central Bank of Ireland, the European Union, and resolution of external RADAR queries (which may include engagement with third-party suppliers),
  • Production of meeting packs, management information and risk and compliance committee reporting, (including those outside of Dublin, e.g., Switzerland, Netherlands, and Germany),
  • Assisting in identifying, assessing, and monitoring key AFC risks and assisting with preparation of BGE & BGWF risk assessments,
  • Owning core business plan and BAU tasks as agreed with manager to agreed deadlines,
  • Co-ordinate input into Group AFC policies and associated policy standards, rules matrices ensuring they are maintained, signed off and communicated to relevant stakeholders in a timely manner,
  • Develop relationships across the AFC framework to ensure communication channels are effective, and
  • Undertaking tasks and activities as delegated on behalf of the MLRO.

Qualifications

  • International Compliance Association Diploma, ACAMS certificate, or equivalent.

Your Knowledge & Experience

  • Previous experience working within the AFC function of an investment, manager, fund management company, or financial services firm,
  • Experience of the European regulatory environment, and
  • Operational awareness of the investment management process
