Nanosurf is a fast-growing innovator in the nanotechnology market. We develop, manufacture and market state-of-the-art scanning probe microscopes for imaging and manipulation of surfaces at the nanometer range. We work at the limit of what is physically possible and develop all the mechanical, electronic, optical and software components necessary for best-in-class instruments.
As part of our company’s growth and in response to market demands, we are expanding our ‘Industrial Solutions’ department. This team develops and produces high precision positioning systems for a variety of sizes, supporting a wide range of measurement technologies such as AFM, interferometry, optical microscopes and more.
We are looking for an experienced Application and support scientist to work with our teams in commissioning and servicing of highly complex measurement machines.
As an application and support scientist you will be responsible of commissioning of complex systems in order to deliver them according to customer specifications and contractual delivery dates and will do service on our current machines at customer site.
Our future application and support scientist will be located within the radius of 50 km around Ulm.
The role

As an application and support scientist, you will hold responsibility for:

  • Commissioning, support, and service of large, customized measurement systems at our partner and/or customer sites in Germany in cleanroom environment.
  • Installations of the systems.
  • Debugging of the PLC based systems.
  • Working on switch cabinets.
  • Performing Field acceptance tests (FAT) and Site acceptance tests (SAT).
  • Training the customers.
  • Participating in and supporting internal development discussions.
  • Modifying user manuals in German and English language.
  • Performing annual maintenances.
  • Modifying system EPLANs.
  • Yearly Obsolescence management.
  • On site communication with customers and partners.
  • Travelling to customer and partner sites.

Your profile

  • You are in possession of a Master and/or PhD degree in Physics, Materials Science, or equivalent field, and have 2-3 years of hands-on experience in semiconductor and/or automation industry.
  • You have basic understanding of atomic force microscopes (AFMs), optics, and electronics.
  • You have experience of working with switch cabinets.
  • You have a basic understanding of Programmable Logic controller (PLC) for debugging the systems.
  • You have excellent communication skills.
  • You speak both German and English language.
  • You excel through your result-oriented and practical thinking and acting. Besides possessing the skills required for the operation and set-up of complex measurement instruments, you are capable of quickly picking up and understanding customer needs.
  • You are mobile and flexible at visiting and working at sites of our partners and customers to develop and run complex industrial measurement machines.
  • Valid driver’s license would be a plus.
