Job Description:
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Manager, this position supports the effective and efficient functioning of any assigned computer applications within the Corporate Services portfolio and acts as a key resource to support any changes or new initiatives such as systems upgrades, data migrations, and any related user training. This position also ensures the integrity and consistency of related information, and ensures timely generation of required reports, data extracts and transfers.
The Application Coordinator possess strong analytical and technical skills in order to identify opportunities for process improvement, develop business and technical requirements.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Health Information Science, Business Administration and/or successful completion of a recognized Information Systems program with a minimum five (5) years’ recent related experience in a complex health care or government environment.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of systems analysis, business process redesign, computer programming, PC desktop and report writing tools.
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with all levels of the organization and with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to organize workload and work independently.
  • Ability to demonstrate good decision making /problem solving.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and deal with short timeframes.
