The Application Developer, Sr will design, develop, test, document, and implement new and existing software applications and solutions. The Application Developer, Sr will be required to create business process workflows, and user stories, configure and extend Appian objects, and implement the system logic necessary to satisfy the requirements. The Application Developer, Sr will also work with the database team to define the data objects and schema needed to support the workflows.
Responsibilities:
- Work with government team members and other SMEs to develop and refine user stories.
- Work with fellow team members and project leaders to design Appian applications, perform software configuration and customization, and create documentation.
- Refine and translate system software requirements specifications into structured Appian application programs.
- Configure, debug, test, and document new applications and enhancements, including but not limited to forms, reports, underlying logic, and interface components on development projects as assigned.
- Provide software development life cycle support, including the conduct of technical requirements analysis, design, development, performance measurement, verification and validation, deployment, change management, and transition.
- Work with database administrators, quality assurance team, system engineers, network engineers, and other staff to ensure data consistency, security, and privacy.
- Actively participate in design and systems development, software configuration, and customization and documentation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of relevant experience, including hands-on experience with software application design, development, and testing and engineering duties are required
- 5+ years’ experience with the Appian BPM Platform is required
- Possess and maintain a valid state motor vehicle operator’s license
- Background check required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Experience with Agile and/or with federal software development environments preferred.
- Experience with systems and software architecture is desired.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to listen and understand what is being described by the end user as well as the ability to explain problem resolutions when necessary.
- Strong communication skills (both written and oral).
- Strong customer service skills.
- Strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to analyze system functionality with customers and resolve production issues.
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision or guidance.
- Ability to occasionally work after hours and/or do on-call support.
- Ability to work well under pressure with some tight deadlines and ambiguity on some projects.
- Demonstrate ability to analytically address complex problems, process critical data, establish facts, and draw quality conclusions.
