Job Title: Application Observability Architect

Responsibilities:

  • Extensive experience in designing, developing, and managing administration interfaces for enterprise applications.
  • Proficiency in creating user-friendly and efficient admin dashboards for managing and monitoring application performance.
  • Strong background in setting up and managing logging and monitoring systems for cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Expertise in integrating and utilizing AWS CloudWatch for comprehensive monitoring and alerting.
  • Proficiency in implementing robust error reporting mechanisms to quickly identify, report, and resolve issues.
  • Experience in configuring automated alerts and notifications for critical errors and system failures.
  • Deep understanding of AWS CloudWatch, including custom metrics, dashboards, log streams, and alarms.
  • Ability to set up and optimize CloudWatch for real-time monitoring and long-term data retention.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
  • AWS Certifications:
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional.
  • AWS Certified Developer – Associate.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation of monitoring and logging tasks.
  • Knowledge of security best practices and compliance requirements related to monitoring and logging, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Experience in incident management, including setting up incident response procedures and conducting post-incident reviews.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in monitoring and logging technologies and integrating new tools as appropriate.
  • Experience with other monitoring platforms such as DataDog, Prometheus, Grafana, or Splunk.
  • Ability to integrate multiple monitoring tools to provide a unified view of system performance and health.
  • Proven track record of performance tuning and optimization using data from monitoring and logging tools.
  • Experience in identifying performance bottlenecks and implementing solutions to improve system efficiency.
  • Strong background in DevOps practices, with experience in automating monitoring and logging setups using infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Ability to document processes, create user guides, and provide training for administration interfaces and monitoring tools.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to interpret monitoring and logging data to make informed decisions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration and achieving consensus.
  • Experience in mentoring and guiding junior team members, with a demonstrated ability to lead by example.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, particularly in developing scenarios that support test cases.
