  • Management / Resource Management:
  • The postholder may have line management responsibilities and be accountable for directing day to day activities of assigned project team and support staff (aligning capacity and capability to priorities)
  • Engage with the wider ICT team in particular aspects of their own projects, and support as appropriate.
  • A positive and pro-active self-starter who operates from a ‘how can I add I value’ mindset.

  • Support the collaborative working agenda within the ‘GESH’ hospitals group – at times working directly with staff from Epsom and St Helier Hospital Trust.

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION AND MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • You will create, enhance and maintain the Trust Integration Engine which primarily, but not exclusively, links Cerner Millennium with other clinical systems at the Trust and beyond, via custom and standardised TCP messaging, email and file transfer. Maintenance includes but is not limited to, maintenance releases and upgrades by the TIE vendor, InterSystems, or another TIE vendor if the Trust changes the TIE supplier. The TIE contains confidential patient data so the post holder must adhere to Caldicott and Trust security policies regarding the handling of sensitive data.
  • You will participate in the full cycle of application interface development including investigating current processes, gathering user requirements, system design, testing, performance tuning, modification, deployment, support and documentation. This requires a strong understanding of a spectrum of ICT technologies, and also of targeted NHS business processes.
  • You will assist in the management, support and maintenance of other in-house systems including the Trust Legacy EPR, until such time as all functions have been fully integrated into the Trust flagship PAS/EPR (Cerner Millennium), a process that has been underway with varying degrees of priority for 10 years.
  • You will apply your application knowledge and expertise to proactively manage and support customers’ requirements. Including, but not limited to, information and advice on changes to the application, design, support, national and local standards, application solutions for clinical workflow and clinical care and testing of applications.
  • You will develop and maintain your own analytical and technical skills employing these to aid Trust decision making processes.
  • You will use your professional skills to work efficiently and cooperatively to meet customers’ information needs through the provision of regular reports, updates on the department incident and change management system, advice and ad-hoc analyses.
  • You will own the process of seeking requirements from non-technical stakeholders, translating them into technical requirements for suppliers and resources, and navigating the process of risk and issue resolution for delivery of sustainable solutions.
  • You will manage incident and problem management from requests through to sustainable solutions.
You will have the judgement to understand which tasks and issues should be prioritised to keep the Trust safe and for efficient delivery of both projects and BAU requests.
