SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced Applications Engineer to join our Team at ASI. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support and guidance to our e-Bike, e-Scooter, e-Motorcycle, and other e-Mobility customers, as well as collaborating with internal teams to develop and improve our in-house developed products for the e-Mobility market.
This is an in-office (not remote or hybrid) position located in our Waterloo Technology Centre.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Education and/or Experience:
- Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
- 5+ years of motor control experience
- 3+ years of experience in a technical support or application engineering role
- Experience with e-Mobility powertrain design and integration
- Experience with functional safety and electrical system failure analysis
- Experience with product development
- Must have or be eligible to get a P.eng. or equivalent
- Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of electric motor control systems, electric motors, and applications
- Hands-on experience with wiring, installing and troubleshooting electric vehicle control and traction systems
- Strong customer focus with a sense of urgency and ability to work with tight deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to travel internationally without restrictions, occasionally, as required

Responsibilities:
- Maintain detailed familiarity with ASI’s Products and Technologies
- Provide technical support and guidance to e-Mobility manufacturers and dealers, including developing and executing customer solutions, troubleshooting and problem-solving
- Assist in the development of Scopes of Work (SOW), Requests for Proposals (RFP) and Requests for Quotes (RFQ)
- Develop and provide technical/product training and support for our Sales Team, Sales Representatives and Customers
- Gather and understand Customers’ requirements
- Monitoring market conditions and competitive threats to support R&D and Sales to understand e-Mobility market technical needs and develop new products
- Attend e-Mobility industry events and trade shows to promote the company’s products and services
- Onboard and support customers through their product development cycles
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including datasheets and user manuals
- Provide technical support and consultation for the design and implementation of electric motor and controller systems for e-Mobility
- Provide support for functional safety and electrical system failure analysis
- Develop and analyze electrical and mechanical solutions/schematics
- Troubleshoot electromechanical systems, including software, mechanical and electrical hardware
