DESCRIPTION:
Northern Lights College is currently seeking one or more instructors to instruct components in a fast-paced, technology-based program and collaborative environment, following provincial curriculum. The courses will vary in length and are scheduled to begin in September 2024 and coming to completion in early June 2025.
Once completed, the Applied Business Technology Administrative Assistant Certificate program prepares students to work in business, government, and industry offices. Instruction will include current administrative skills in word processing, keyboarding, spreadsheets, automated accounting, bookkeeping, and the utilization of up-to-date Microsoft Office software. The program includes business communications and office procedures courses which enable students to develop the soft skills necessary for success in today’s offices. The program has a two-week practicum placement to give students the opportunity to apply their new skills in an office environment.

ABTC 120 Business Math & Calculators: September 5 - October 10, 2024 (37.5 hours total)
- Monday to Thursday, 2:15 - 3:45 pm
ABTC 111 Accounting Level 1: October 15, 2024 - January 9, 2025 (56.25 hours total)
- October 15 - November 7: Monday to Thursday, 2:15 - 3:45 pm
- November 13 - December 11: Monday to Wednesday, 2:15 to 3:45 pm
- December 16, 18, 19, and January 2 & 9: 2:45 pm - 3:45 pm
ABTC 151 Accounting Level 2: February 3 - March 13, 2025 (75 hrs total)
- Monday to Thursday, 12:30 - 3:45pm
ABTC 193 Desktop Publisher: May 1 - June 4 (25 hours total)
- May 1 & June 4th: 12:30 - 3:45pm
- May 5, 6, 12, 13, 20, 21, 22, 26,27 and 28th: 2:25 - 3:45pm
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Post-secondary diploma in a relevant field from a Canadian institution; and three years of progressive office/business experience (an equivalent combination of education and office experience may be considered).
- Must be proficient in all programs in MS Office Suite, accounting software, as well as basic computer operation troubleshooting.
- Previous experience hosting meetings/calls in an online environment.
- Ability to function effectively as a team member through collaborative approaches to course pedagogy.
- Commitment to student motivation and achievement.
Preferred:
- Degree in a relevant field from a post-secondary Canadian institution.
- The Provincial Instructor Diploma Program or an equivalent credential in adult education, or a readiness to pursue such a credential.
- Experience teaching at the post-secondary level; and
- Experience instructing a culturally diverse group of students.
