Description:

Band 8a for experienced Psychologist and / or Opportunity for candidates to be supported under Annex 21 who are: newly qualified or individuals requiring further development working currently at a band 7.
This is an exciting opportunity for an applied psychologist to develop their clinical and forensic skills and expertise further and work within a Psychology service that supports a trauma-informed, strengths-based and collaborative approach, drawing on a range of psychological models and approaches, including recovery, positive psychology, compassion-focused, good lives and systemic.
We are seeking to recruit a full-time, qualified psychologist (1.0 WTE x Band 8a) at Taith Newydd, a 28 bedded, purpose built Low Secure Unit. Taith Newydd provides an inpatient, adult (male only) service for individuals detained under the MHA with complex needs (e.g. significant mental health, personality, attachment, neurodiverse needs) who have a history of offending behaviour and risky behaviour. The Taith Newydd service has a recovery and rehabilitation focus that follows a model of least restrictive practice and forms part of the broader Rehabilitation and Recovery (R&R) Service within Swansea Bay University Health Board (SBU HB).
The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide a range of psychological assessments and evidence based interventions, for clients with complex psychological needs to aid them in their recovery and reduce risk. The role will also involve offering advice and Consultation on client psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues, as well as to other non-professional carers and workers of other agencies where appropriate. The post holder will be an active member of the Low Secure Service Group by contributing to service evaluation, audit and training, in addition to the clinical supervision of assistant and trainee psychologists. They will also have the opportunity to co-deliver reflective practice to other services within the wider R&R service group.
The health board actively encourages and supports research and Continuing Professional Development (CPD). The post holder will have access to regular clinical supervision and a training package (to be jointly agreed upon following commencement of the position). We have strong links with local local MSc and doctoral training courses.
