Description:

We are looking for a proactive, experienced project/ business manager to join our busy team and support the Appraisal and Revalidation of 6500 GPs in the Southwest. We are a relatively small and friendly team who are all committed to ensuring that each of our GPs is supported alongside ensuring delivery of our statutory role. We are committed to delivering the best service possible in order, ultimately, to ensure safe patient care.
The role will include supporting individual GPs, working closely with our Responsible Officer, Head of Professional Standards, Deputy Medical Director and colleagues in the wider Professional Standards Team, overseeing the delivery of appraisals for GPs and ensuring timely revalidation recommendations are made to the GMC.
Suitable candidate must have excellent communication skills at all levels, be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, be calm and consistent in their approach, encourage and support the wider Appraisal admin team while also line managing them appropriately.

The ideal candidate will have a good working knowledge of GP appraisal and revalidation, accredited toolkits and NHS England and stakeholder (GMC and MPTS) IT systems. However, candidates with a good understanding of the appraisal and revalidation of doctors will be considered.
The successful candidate will work alongside another Band 7 Project Officer in managing the day to day tasks on behalf of the Professional Standards Leadership Team. The role is varied and will include:
collation of annual report
ensuring appraisal processes run smoothly and keep to required standards
submission of revalidation recommendation
ensuring an appropriate agenda for the revalidation advisory group (RAG)
discussing relevant cases at RAG
attendance at the Performance Advisory group meetings
supporting GPs away from UK NHS GP practice including attendance at Return-to-Work meetings
working closely with the local Performer’s list Project Officer to help maintain integrity of the Performer’s list
attending relevant national meetings such as the RMS user group
supporting appraiser recruitment, training, and ongoing development including our senior appraisers
finance tasks including appraiser payments, pension submissions and ensuring processes and decisions in line with relevant NHS England policies and budgetary guidance
line managing some members of the administrative team, supporting and developing each of them and undertaking all HR requirements involving the Team

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.

Manage the team’s business support function, including developing and managing the team’s business plan, progress and reporting risk and issue management

Manage all corporate business returns, including planning and workforce returns.
Develop and implement a management system, to ensure information is properly managed and best practice is shared across the team,Directorate and the wider NHS organisation.
Take a lead in the coordination of training & development and recruitment activity across the Team.
Ensure provision of information, guidance and support for individual Performers, to inform annual appraisal outcomes to support appropriate revalidation by the GMC.
Provide the key link and lead on interface between the appraisal/revalidation and both the performance and Performer’s List programmes and work.
Lead and manage on performance cases arising from appraisal/revalidation
