Job description

WORKING FOR BLACKBURN WITH DARWEN

Are you eager to learn and ready to kick-start your career? Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council are looking for the next generation of talented individuals that can deliver quality services to the residents of Blackburn and Darwen and help us grow into a prosperous borough.
We know that full time education isn’t for everyone. An apprenticeship offers you a great opportunity to gain a qualification whilst earning a wage and without accumulating the debts associated with study. Being an apprentice means you will have one dedicated day of study per week whilst gaining real work experience which is crucial as you start to build your career and by the end of your apprenticeship you will have at least two years’ of working in a nurturing environment. We also have an excellent record of retaining our apprentices beyond their apprenticeship course, securing permanent roles for those wanting to stay in the council.
It’s easier to apply than ever, with our easy application form!
Your starting salary will be £8.60 an hour in your first year. During your second year you will remain on this amount or the minimum wage for your age, whichever is higher. We can also offer you 26 days annual leave plus bank holidays, an excellent pension and a number of discounts including gym membership.
Here at Blackburn with Darwen we aim to treat all of our employees equally and fairly, and to reflect this we recently launched our new values, Trust, Respect, Ambition, Collaboration, and Kindness; TRACK! By incorporating these values throughout our working lives our employees, managers, and teams can work in a supportive and enjoyable workplace.
Candidates must be able to show genuine interest within the role.
