JOB SUMMARY:

The Apprentice, CAD Technician, will be an on-the-job training program for developing skills with the AutoCAD LT and Autodesk Inventor Software tools along with some relevant supporting applications. The Apprentice will be responsible for diligently working on learning the basics of AutoCAD LT and draftsman skills using training books, exercises, and support from existing CAD Technicians and Engineers at Telamon. Once the required AutoCAD LT skills have been mastered, the apprentice will move on to developing skills with the 3D CAD tool Autodesk Inventor. Again, a training book, support from existing CAD technicians and some online classes will be available and used for the 3D CAD training portion of the apprenticeship.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • High School Diploma
  • Basic MS Office Skill setMinimum of 6 months experience in telecom assembly or installation standards and procedures

Responsibilities:

The Apprentice, CAD Technician is responsible for duties that include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • On a weekly basis work towards the completion of the AutoCAD Training book provided
  • Once AutoCAD skills are proficient the Apprentice will become responsible for creating a new facility lay out to demonstrate their new skills, the details of which will be provided by the Engineering Manager and Director of Operations
  • Once AutoCAD LT skills are proven, the Apprentice will move on to start book and online based training to learn the Autodesk Inventor tool and 3D related CAD skills.
  • As the 3D CAD skills are developed and mature the Apprentice will take on more practical projects and responsibilities that will include but not limited to:
  • Assembly Labeling updates and creation of new ones as needed
  • Pop Up projects like assembly front views for RFQs
  • Assist with new drawing projects with ESIS Engineering Team as opportunities arise
  • New Facility layouts(2D AutoCAD LT)
  • Configurations for quotes
  • Material List Updates
  • Vault Inventory maintenance in 3D Models as needed
  • Spec Sheets for Q:\ drive as new items need to be documented.

During the training of the Autodesk Inventor portion of the apprenticeship, the additional software tools will also be mixed into the train in gas needed, included Acrobat Pro and Tetra 3D
