Hevvy/Toyo Pumps North America is a Canadian-owned pump manufacturing and distribution company located on the Fraser River in Coquitlam, BC. We are a family-owned and operated business that has been operating 40 overs. We are looking to hire an Apprentice Fabricator/Welder to join our growing team.
We are looking to develop and sponsor an apprentice towards achieving their Red Seal working with Hevvy Pumps. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:

  • Completion of year 2 or 3 within the Fabricaion apprentice program
  • Knowledge and familiarity with welding procedures and quality control requirements
  • Strong knowledge of metal fabrication techniques, including cutting, bending, shaping, and welding
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret welding procedure specifications, welding symbols and blueprints
  • Able to lift 30-50 Lb

Responsibilities:

· Follow bill of materials, precise instructions/procedures to weld and fabricate the various parts for custom cantilever, submersible, and horizontal engineered pumps.
· Supporting Fabrication/Welder Supervisor in assembly and fitting.
· Alert the Shop Supervisor to any problems and errors or discrepancies in drawings;
· Operate stand up and counter balanced forklift, in safe manner for moving and storing goods;
· Safely rigging and operating overhead cranes
· Read detailed schematics for complex machines
· Use hand tools and power tools to trim, cut and fit components into the final product.
· Weld and solder pieces together
· Operating manual and semi-automatic welding equipment
· Operating welding equipment, oxy-fuel cutting, grinding
· Planning your own layout and ensuring it meets drawing specification
· Working independently for the fitting of the complex precision components
· Align components and connect them with bolts and screws
· Completing appropriate reporting
· Provide assistance in other areas of shop/shipping –receiving and warehousing as required, accommodating holidays/illness/vacation of other personnel;
· Ensure that the documentation compliance is completed to ISO 9001 standards.
· Following all company Safety Policies/Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures and Safe work practices
· Participating in yearly health and safety training
· Following Policies and procedures laid out in OSSE Program
· Advise supervisor and other workers of hazards in the workplace and not undertake any work that appears unsafe
· Using required PPE in designated work zones when required
