JOB DESCRIPTION:

We have opportunities in several locations for Apprentices with a keen interest in developing skills in structural engineering and project management to join our busy structural design team, working on a variety of high-profile projects.
The team undertakes a wide variety of major and challenging projects for the private and public sector, across a range of development sectors. We seek to provide integrated solutions incorporating state of the art design.
Projects typically range in size from £1m to £100m schemes covering defence, transport, infrastructure, healthcare, education, commercial, industrial and residential development management.
This post will offer the successful applicant an interesting, challenging and varied workload as well as allowing them to develop personally and professionally as a Technician and Project Manager. You will attend a local college 1 day per week to complete a Foundation Degree in Civil Engineering and Asset Management followed by a BEng(Hons) Degree in Civil Engineering and Asset Management combined with a Level 6 Civil Engineering Apprenticeship.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

  • A minimum of Five GCSE’s at Grades 9-4/A* - C including Maths, English and Science or their equivalent (Maths must be grade 9-5)
  • A keen interest in Civil / Structural Engineering
  • A keen interest in Design
  • MS Office skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-Motivated
  • Desirable - Full, clean UK driving licence and ideally access to a vehicle
  • Ability to gain Nuclear Security clearance

Responsibilities:

DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:

  • Delivery of scheme and concept designs of a wide range of engineering projects across a variety of sectors
  • Provide technical assistance to the members of the Engineering team
  • Involved with new build and refurbishment building projects
  • Liaison with statutory authorities, architects, design teams and contractors
  • Assist in the delivery of projects on time and to budget
  • Exposure to some of the latest design software e.g. AutoCAD and Revit
  • Assist in design reviews and verification checks
  • Undertake site visits and surveys
  • Ensure compliance with all legislation, regulations and site procedures or instructions
  • Liaise with clients, architects, contractors and stakeholders
