POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are currently looking for a responsible and dependable Apprentice Parts Technician. This role is responsible for supporting the mechanic shop to provide parts for maintenance and repairs, maintain accurate inventory of parts, and coordinating with suppliers to procure parts as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Registered 1st or 2nd year Parts Technician Apprentice or equivalent experience.
  • General labour, parts, or construction experience
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license and clean drivers abstract.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs unassisted.
  • Experience working with heavy trucks or off-road equipment is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with parts management including help track, organize, and inventory parts and supplies used in concrete truck maintenance and repair.
  • Order and restock parts including assisting in ordering and restocking parts and supplies as needed, to maximize limited storage space while taking advantage of bulk buying power.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date inventory documentation, tracking parts usage, inventory levels, and maintenance activities.
  • Work closely with Heavy Duty Mechanics to supply parts required for maintenance and repairs, making recommendations for substitutions if there is a lower cost option or if the original product is unavailable.
  • Research pricing options to ensure the company remains fiscally responsible.
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with suppliers to ensure parts are received on time and within scope.
  • Process payment transactions for parts ordered.
  • Clean, organize, and inventory parts frequently.
  • Preform parts runs, transporting parts from suppliers to the shop, as required.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and best practices to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and tidy work area at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.
