APS 6 - Case Manager

POSITION OVERVIEW

Case Managers support the Member’s Advisors and Dispute Resolution & Assistance Managers in providing assistance to the President and Members in performing their decision-making and dispute resolution functions under the Act, mainly in relation to mining and exploration proposals that affect native title.
The role involves frequent contact with legal practitioners, heritage officers, tenement managers, mining companies and traditional owners. Candidates must be able to work effectively as part of a team supporting a Tribunal Member, as well as a broader national team, while being able to work independently and take responsibility for outcomes. Case Managers are also expected to maintain and share knowledge within the national team and provide guidance and mentoring to Case Officers.
This role would suit someone who is comfortable working with legislation and statutory procedures, enjoys working and communicating with a diverse range of people, is capable of managing competing priorities and has strong written communication and interpersonal skills. Legal training or experience in dispute resolution would be an advantage.

QUALIFICATIONS

Legal qualifications and/or experience in dispute resolution, while not essential, would be an advantage.
