    An opportunity exists for an APS6 Senior Investigator. As a member of the Fraud Response section, you will use leadership skills to engage with stakeholders and conduct information and evidence gathering and data analytical capabilities to detect and respond to suspected non-compliance and suspected fraud with DVA programs and services, and across other agencies. This role fulfils a vital element of DVAs fraud detection capabilities and serve to protect public funds from illegal activities, error and loss.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

  • Applicants must be able to provide evidence of a successful completion or have the ability to obtain a Certificate IV Government Investigations.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance. This is a security-designated position. Continued employment with the department requires the successful candidate to maintain a security clearance. Failure to obtain and/or loss of a security clearance at any time may lead to termination of employment.

Responsibilities:

  • Work under the direction of the Assistant Director Investigations to investigate complex fraud and non-compliance matters, to ensure the integrity of DVA’s programs and services.
  • Assist in ensuring DVA is compliant with legislative frameworks and provide governance, policy and technical-expert advice for staff, including senior management.
  • Provide leadership and direction to DVA employees on best practice investigation procedures.
  • Provide complex technical support during investigations, including interpreting and evaluating information that assists other employees.
  • Maintain an awareness of DVAs fraud risk environment, the contemporary criminal environment including new and emerging threats, and nationally significant criminal activity to identify priorities including targeting opportunities for law enforcement.
  • Provide accurate and specialised advice to stakeholders in regard to DVA’s investigation functions.
  • Support inter-disciplinary and inter-agency liaison to maintain productive networks and to promote information sharing, partnerships and common understanding.
  • Hold or have the ability to quickly acquire a thorough understanding of the relevant DVA legislation and policies.
  • Monitor, analyse and report on fraud risks and threats in line with DVA requirements.
