ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Employment with the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts is subject to conditions prescribed within the Public Service Act 1999 including:

  • Citizenship: To be eligible for employment with the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts applicants must be an Australian citizen at the time of submitting your application.
  • Health Assessment: The preferred applicant may be required to undergo a medical examination conducted by the department’s preferred medical provider.
  • Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to obtain and/or maintain a security clearance at Baseline Level. You must be willing to disclose all relevant and required information. You must have lived in Australia, or have a checkable background, for at least the preceding five years for Baseline Vetting clearances. More information on the security clearance vetting process is available on the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) website.

Responsibilities:

A role in the Airports Branch offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of challenges facing the aviation sector in a collegiate and collaborative workplace. Assurance and managing compliance frameworks are a core component of the role and offers excellent opportunities to gain experience in collaborating with departmental staff and external stakeholders.

As a Senior Regulatory Officer, you can expect to:

  • Support the Branch in ensuring airports comply with their obligations to manage airport planning and development in accordance with relevant federal legislation and regulations.
  • Achieve results and quality outcomes, working to deliver multiple activities at any given time, often within tight timeframes.
  • Exercise regulatory functions under the Airports Act 1996, Curfew Acts and relevant subordinate legislation, monitoring the application of the Acts and ensuring compliance.
  • Contribute to a range of written material, including preparation and updating of operating manuals, guidance material, correspondence, briefings, and other materials as required.
  • Build collaborative working relationships with a range of government and industry stakeholders to achieve objectives and outcomes.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and support regulatory objectives through consultation, research, and managing compliance and reporting functions.
