Offer Description
We are seeking a highly motivated technician to support and assist in the operation and services of the Champalimaud Fish Platform. The selected candidate will join a dynamic and detail-oriented team with a strong team spirit.
Dues and responsibilities of the appointed candidate include
- Maintenance of recirculating aquaculture systems for multiple freshwater fish species and related equipment;
- Monitorization of water quality;
- Maintenance of live feed cultures;
- Crosses, housings and embryo care;
- Larval rearing;
- Record keeping;
- Fish health checks;
- Technical assistance to researchers;
- Other tasks relevant for the maintenance and development of high scientific and animal welfare standards.

Skills/Qualifications
Preferential selection criteria
- Experience in recirculating aquaculture systems
- Personal animal experimentation license
- Prior work in a research environment
This is a full-time position requiring ability to prioritize efficiently and multitask, without compromising attention to detail and record keeping. Postholder will be asked to work within an on-call rota and to adjust daily duties according to the needs of the Platform. The ideal candidate will be organized, responsible, committed and a team worker. Strong logical skills are also required.
Specific Requirements
- Candidates must hold a Bachelor degree in Life/Biological Sciences;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Strong teamwork skills;
- Excellent Level of English.

Selection Method
Initial selection methods shall be as follows: curriculum (60%) and motivation letter (40%). Top candidates might be called for interviews, and evaluations from references will be considered, as well as their perceived fit and potential contribution to the Fish Platform.
