Description:
The Department of Anthropology at Brandon University invites applications for a one-year, in-person term position beginning July 1, 2025, or as mutually agreed, subject to budgetary approval. We have an active departmental research culture, promote excellence in our teaching and student engagement, and we seek an individual who will help us support, build, and maintain the momentum in our program. We also support applicants who can bring an Indigenous perspective on North American archaeology and/or decolonizing archaeology.
Qualifications: A doctorate in Archaeology or related discipline with a specialization in the archaeology of the Indigenous people of North America prior to European contact is required; PhD candidates who are ABD may also be considered. Applicants may seek to establish an experiential/traditional equivalency to the doctorate and are invited to contact the Chair of the Selection Committee on how to establish equivalent academic or professional credentials. Evidence of research productivity and a successful record of teaching will be considered an asset.
Responsibilities: The successful applicant will teach courses in human evolution and archaeology, the analysis of artifacts found on the Northern Plains and adjacent parkland of Western Canada, world prehistory, archaeological method and theory, lithic analysis and/or archaeology of the Northern Plains, as required. The successful candidate will actively engage in research, and is expected to participate in Departmental, University and community service.
Rank and Salary: Commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
