Job Description
AECOM is currently seeking candidates for the Archaeology Field Supervisors I to IV position, which will be based out of multiple offices across Ontario.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting Stages 2-4 archaeological field work under the guidance of a field supervisor.
- Identifying and recovering Indigenous and Euro-Canadian artifacts as directed by the site supervisor.
- Prioritizing Health and Safety protocols and adhering to all AECOM procedures.
- Willingness to travel extensively across Ontario for extended periods.
- Assuming a junior leadership role during field operations.
- Supporting the Field Supervisor with technical aspects of field work.
- Assisting in the training of new team members.
- Leading your teammates by example and taking responsibility for additional tasks assigned by field supervisors or management.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Highschool + 6 years of relevant experience
- Must be able to perform strenuous archaeological fieldwork (lift up to 40lbs and be capable of repetitive movement).
- Can communicate information, issues, concerns related to the site work in an effective and professional manner to Field Supervisor.
- Will attend work in a timely manner, prepared for all weather conditions and ensuring appropriate weather gear is readily available.
- Reliable transportation to and from assigned office or designated project meet spot is essential.
- Sensitivity and awareness combined with a respectful attitude towards Indigenous culture and people is a must.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven ability to recognize cultural material and collect in a controlled manner.
- Proven physical ability and care when conducting excavations.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Valid Ontario driver’s license.
- Demonstrated ability to support Field Supervisor with technical aspects of archaeology & leading the team.
- Demonstrated knowledge of MCM Standards & Guidelines for Consultant Archaeologists
