Job Description
AECOM is seeking an Architect/Design Manager for various exciting Residential and Industrial Projects throughout Belgium.
The primary responsibilities will be to manage and coordinate projects and programs in Belgium and to ensure localisation of design delivered by the AECOM design hubs located in different countries across Europe.
To cultivate and maintain client relationships, oversee and lead multiple projects through all phases of design, and actively lead the design process for these clients and opportunities.

Within this role you will work with local and global leadership to ensure a coordinated effort to support business development endeavours. Key duties include:

  • Ensure the localization of the project, interpretation of legislation and code compliance.
  • Provide design directions to the project teams and control design quality.
  • Coordinate remote design teams and / or local partners design input;
  • Oversee the design process and work with team members to ensure that the clients stated mission and vision are infused into the design of the project at all stages.
  • Manage the permitting process together with our in-house environmental team;
  • Be responsible for financial management of the project, ensure key deadlines are met and staff are working together effectively.
  • Responsible of resource planning across projects and programs;
  • Assist in recruiting and building a fit for purpose team connected to the pipeline of opportunities.
  • Incorporate our ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) strategy into the way we design
  • Deliver against all health and safety metrics and implement safety in design best practices.
  • Administer AECOM contracts and ensure compliance with company procedures and project compliance to all local codes, standards and building/construction regulations.
  • Play a key role in client and government relationship management and ensure high quality design standards in our delivery.
  • Support the business line lead and business development team in project pursuits.
  • Define scope from initial project information and support preparation of associated fee proposals, schedules, work plans and additional design service requests as required.
  • Maintain and cultivate existing client relationships, including introduction of firm leadership.
  • Build and strengthen connections with clients on a day-to-day basis through a comprehensive understanding of their project mission, values and goals.
  • Actively engage with other AECOM Business Lines in Benelux or outside Benelux and foster collaboration.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Technical degree in Architecture
  • Registration in the Belgian Ordre des Architects is required
  • 5+ years related experience
  • Experience in local permitting procedures
  • Experience in construction site supervision and follow-up
  • Fluent in Dutch or French and English
  • Sound knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit
  • Ability to write specifications is a plus
  • Must be detail oriented, thorough, well-organized and effectively manage time
  • Team player with excellent listening skills and diplomacy; willingness to work with multiple teams on a variety of initiatives
  • Ability to work in a high-paced environment with a sense of urgency
  • Outstanding oral communication, written and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational skills – ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Consultative, service-oriented mindset and collaborative problem-solving skills
  • Willing to travel frequently to project sites across Belgium and to AECOM design hub sites across Europe
  • Looking for a full time employment contract
