Job Description
AECOM is seeking an Architectural Assistant to be based in our downtown Los Angeles, CA office.
The position will begin in January 2025 and is expected to end in March 2025, hours vary from 20 to 40 hours per week.
The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Provides support and works with several professionals – architects/designers, building engineers, scientists, project managers, construction personnel, economists, environmental engineers, cost estimators, and business/ management (marketing, legal, financial) while learning about each discipline.
- Works with BIM technicians, project engineers, field engineers, and AECOM’s Digital Technology group to learn about the technological side of construction, including introductory or even advanced training in relevant software.
- May assist Project Managers and attend various meetings.
- Works with trade/material vendors, and help the architects and designers update materials libraries and collections.
- Supports professionals while learning how to read plans and organize a construction drawing set, may also update plans for projects in construction, with RFIs and revisions to keep a current set.
- After the necessary safety training, will tour project construction sites, take photos of work in progress to compile visual documentation of the project and complete site observation reports.
- Will complete First Aid Certification and Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA) 10 Certification.
- Will learn how to read plans and organize a construction drawing set.
Qualifications
Minimum requirements:
- Have completed high school
Preferred requirements:
- Plans to continue studies at an accredited university architecture program.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
