Job Description
ABOUT BUILDINGS + PLACES:
Our Buildings + Places practice includes architecture, interiors, building and system engineering, urbanism and planning (inclusive of landscape design), strategy +, economics, technology solutions, asset advisory, and cost and program management. This diverse team assists our clients from strategy through project realization, creating positive outcomes for those who occupy and use the buildings and environments we help to create. Our Chicago studio focuses on the Commercial/Corporate, Science and Technology, Higher Education, and Federal market sectors. AECOM is seeking a graduate Architectural Designer position in the Chicago, IL office.
This position is expected to begin in the summer of 2025
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have a bachelor’s degree or higher in architecture or design from an accredited program.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in working in REVIT, AutoCAD, Rhino, and Sketchup.
- Preferred a minimum of three years of study
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrates creativity, passion, and interest in architecture, planning, and design.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task on multiple simultaneous projects in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and effectively meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Enscape graphic software preferred.
- Knowledge of web-based organizational software such as Smartsheet, ACC, and MIRO.
Responsibilities:
- Performing basic architectural tasks such as drafting and detailing.
- Preparing specifications, reports, and related data tables.
- Maintaining liaison with design and drafting groups.
- Preparing, reviewing, and distributing drawings and specs to discipline leads for QAQC
- May coordinate technical and administrative activities with employees in other disciplines and other departments participating in an assigned project.
- May assist in the training and evaluation of assigned architectural and design/drafting personnel.
- Developing and maintaining logs to organize internal and external information, such as permit logs, staff assignments, design phasing, Bluebeam sessions, QAQC, etc.
- Assisting discipline leads with client RFIs through eBuilder.
- Coordinating internal and external meetings followed by meeting minute distribution.
