Description:

Job Purpose:
The Area HR Business Partner is responsible for overseeing HR functions across multiple stores. The role includes collaborating with Store Leaders, Business Performance Leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure optimal staffing levels, effective recruitment processes, and comprehensive employee integration. The Area HR Business Partner will also manage industrial relations (IR) cases, ensuring legal compliance and representing the business at the CCMA. Additionally, the role involves facilitating training programs and maintaining accurate HR data and reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • HR Management:
  • Collaborate with Store Leaders and Business Performance Leaders to ensure stores operate at optimum Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) levels.
  • Oversee recruitment processes, including job specification preparation, advertising, long and shortlisting candidates, and conducting interviews.
  • Ensure all recruitment checks are completed.
  • Oversee team integration and onboarding processes.
  • Payroll and Leave Management:
  • Ensure each store’s payroll is signed off.
  • Review payroll data and variance reports.
  • Manage leave processes within stores.
  • Industrial Relations (IR):
  • Handle IR cases and assist Heads of Departments (HODs) in drafting charges.
  • Review and approve charges.
  • Represent the business at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation, and Arbitration (CCMA) for conciliation cases.
  • Meetings and Reporting:
  • Attend monthly HR meetings and prepare store-specific data related to staff, talent, recruitment, and training.
  • Ensure legal compliance during regulatory department visits.
  • Training and Development:
  • Work with the Learning & Development (L&D) department to ensure stores maintain a threshold of training hours.
  • Monitor and report on training and development metrics.

Quantitative Performance Measures:

  • Recruitment:
  • Maintain an optimal FTE level in all stores.
  • Ensure timely recruitment processes with a target of filling vacancies within an average of 30 days.
  • Achieve a candidate-to-hire ratio of 5:1.
  • Payroll Management:
  • Ensure payroll accuracy with less than 1% variance in payroll data.
  • Complete payroll sign-off by the 5th working day of each month.
  • IR Cases:
  • Successfully resolve at least 90% of IR cases within the company.
  • Maintain a win rate of at least 75% in CCMA conciliation cases.
  • Training and Development:
  • Ensure each store completes a minimum of 20 hours of training per employee per year.
  • Achieve a compliance rate of 100% for mandatory training programs.
  • Legal Compliance:
  • Ensure no legal non-compliance issues during regulatory visits.
  • Maintain a record of zero penalties or fines related to HR compliance.
  • Reporting and Meetings:
  • Submit all required reports accurately and on time for monthly HR meetings.
  • Achieve 100% attendance and active participation in all scheduled HR meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or Industrial Psychology.
  • Master’s degree in HR or MBA preferred.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of retail experience, with at least 3 years in a HR Business Partner role.
  • Proven experience in employee relations, performance management, and talent management.
  • Experience in a multi-site environment is a plus.
  • Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong business acumen and ability to align HR strategies with business goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and develop employees and leaders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making capabilities.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Google suit.
  • Ability to travel as needed to support assigned business units.
